I'm currently an Interaction Design graduate student at Carnegie Mellon University, but my path as a designer has been somewhat untraditional.
After graduating from Parsons School of Design with a degree in Design & Management, I became the first Parsons graduate to join the Peace Corps. I was inspired by an exhibit titled Design for the Other 90% and I wanted to try living out what Lao Tzu said, "Go to the people. Live with them. Learn from them. Love them. Start with what they know. Build with what they have. But with the best leaders, when the work is done, the task accomplished, the people will say 'We have done this ourselves." While the experience was entirely different than I expected, I believe it has added a realistic perspective to my idealism, as well as sharpened my cross-cultural communication skills and leadership abilities.
I am passionate about sustainable design, user research, and being a life-long learner.
I love exploring cities, connecting with people, and new experiences.
I look forward to drawing upon my experiences as a girl raised in the South, a college kid in NYC, a Peace Corps volunteer in the Philippines, and participant on two ships that have circumnavigated the world to make a positive impact on people's lives.
