I'm Stowe Hammarberg, an industrial design major and engineering studies minor at Carnegie Mellon University. I have always been somewhere between technical and creative in my interests and skills, and I believe the best creations are made when designers and engineers work together. My familiarity with both disciplines and my ability to collaborate means I'm at my best when I get to work with smart, driven people from diverse backgrounds.
In addition to being immensely pleasurable, making things by hand is an essential part of my design process. Building on top of strong user research, it allows me to feel my way through the creation of forms, interactions, and mechanisms.
Outside of the shop and studio, I often spend my free time running practices and competitions as president of the CMU fencing club. Otherwise I can probably be found building, modifying, or riding used bicycles.
